“Future of the Past”: NEST Partners in Discussion on Cultural Heritage Protection Reform

Yesterday, our company partnered with the “Future of the Past: Law on Cultural Heritage” event and supported an expert discussion on sector reform.
The forum addressed the practical adaptation of UNESCO standards, the balance between centralized decision-making and community authority, as well as genuine public participation in heritage preservation.
Sergii Chalbash, Head of NEST’s Legal Department, emphasized that businesses are ready to invest in the restoration of historical sites; however, a clear institutional framework, transparent procedures, and shared responsibility are essential.
As a result of the discussion, participants agreed that cultural heritage is not a limitation but a potential driver for city development. However, this potential can only be realized through clear, uniform, and predictable “rules of the game” for everyone involved: the state, the community, and the business sector.
